I was considering buying a Dyson vacuum to replace my older vacuum and I would like suggestions. Please give both upright/standard vacuums and canister vacuums if you know which are great. Thank you!

I own a sears Kenmore canister vacuum.
I have had uprights but they are limited in the "vacuuming under the furniture" part of cleaning.
I have owned mine for 6 years now. I bought it used. I have used the crap out of it and still it performs well. I have only replaced the belt a couple of times.
I will only buy this kind of vacuum if this one ever dies. I will buy another used one. The new ones are about $400.00. This one was $180.00.
The one i had before this was a Fantom Cyclone. It was a peice of crap. Died after only one year and cost almost $300.00.
Will never buy another new vacuum again!
