Which Vacuum is better...bagless or canister. And I mean cleaning wise. And with Canister, do you have to buy bags? Or with either, do you need to buy anything other than the vacuum EVER?
Answer
buy a Dyson. my sister has one... and it is THE BEST...
ok, so i think you are a little confused with terminology in terms of calling something bag-less versus canister. a canister is not an upright and a bag-less is just a vacuum that does not need a bag. as far as upkeep is concerned, it all depends upon the specific model. look into the price of filters and availability before you buy. reading consumer reviews is always the most helpful.
"Reviews say canister vacuums are best for those who have a combination of hard wood and rugs, as well as those who plan to vacuum stairs, upholstery, drapes and other above-the-floor items. Uprights, on the other hand, are best for homes with lots of carpeting"
"Upright vacuum cleaners are best for carpet, say reviews, although most upright vacs can also clean bare floors. If you mostly have bare floors with just a few rugs, however, a canister vacuum is a better choice. Canister vacuums are also easier to carry up stairs or to the garage, though they tend to be more expensive than upright vacuum cleaners. "

What's a better choice? Upright or canister vacuum cleaner?
Q. My mom is looking for a new vacuum cleaner and can't decide between an upright or canister. She has a lot of carpeted areas and bare floor as well. What would you recommend? Can you suggest good vacuum cleaners that aren't too expensive and especially, aren't too heavy or difficult to maneuver?
Answer
I agree with Scorpio, a canister is more convenient for multiple floor types as well as dusting walls, window sills, stair banisters, books, etc. Actually I have both, I like the upright for just carpets; easy to maneuver and store. But when it's time for serious cleaning, out comes the canister.
