Hello,
I get this question a lot from readers of my site. I put out a "best buy" list a month ago and the emails have slowed down. Here's a synopsis of that list:
Best Budget Vacuum: Hoover Tempo Widepath - Extremely powerful suction, a little weak on the fliter side, but you're going to pick up a lot of dust and dirt. It retails for about $70.
Best Mid Range Vacuum Cleaner: Bissell 5770 Healthy Home, just as powerful as the Hoover Tempo Widepath, but better air filtration, better pet hair pickup. More cleaning features such as a headlight, off / on agitator brush.
Best High End Vacuum Cleaner: Dyson DC07 Vacuum Cleaner. It's a great buy at just under $400 bucks. (Amazon does have sales and sells them for around $350 on occasion.) Dyson makes some of the most powerful residential grade vacuum cleaners on the market and I'm extremely pleased with their track record.

Heatsink Cleaning... Overheating?

Hi Everyone!! :)
Well my Acer Aspire sa90 2.6ghz Pentium D has been running very hot lately.... 50 degrees just on idle i have tried downloading speedfan and stuff but it seems my BIOS is in control of the fan so that software was no help....
I adjusted a setting the CPU warning temperature in BIOS to the lowest setting it could go which was 60 degrees... but whenever it reached 60 degrees it makes this schreeching noise that continues until the temperature reaches below 60.... it would screech upon startup then once the comp was on idle and temp was under 60 it would stop, then start a couple of programs and there it goes again until the temp drops again......
So i changed the Bios setting back to default which is 70 degrees CPU warning temperature now once it reaches 70 it will make that noise..... So if i play command and conquer red alert 3 i wont be hearing the game sound ill be hearing alot of screeching noise..
Ok so now ive been looking up on what i can do to sort this problem out!
I find cleaning the heatsink might help so i look up on youtube about tutorials about how to pull out the heatsink and so on..... 20 mins later im inside my computer pulling it apart hehe :)
So i pull apart the heatsink done a lil cleaning but wasnt sure if i should wipe off all that thermal glue stuff on the CPU and the bottom of the heatsink since i dont have any thermal glue myself so i just spreaded the thermal stuff thats already on there so that it had no clumpy bits and was spreaded level.....
my question is:
Do you think the heatsink is my problem?
And
If i removed the thermal glue without adding new thermal glue stuff to it will it overheat??
I also found you are able to Underclock or Undervoltage your CPU so that it is not making so much heat... would this be recommended?

Cleaning the fans, heat sinks, air input and outputs is the first thing to do.
But do not remove the heat sink from the CPU unless you do have thermal glue (as you call it) and feel comfortable using it.
Normally just passing something between the rows of the heat sink will detach most of the junk and then you just vacuum it.
