I am tired of having to replace my vacuum cleaner every few years. I am looking for suggestions on a long lasting durable vacuum cleaner. I don't mind paying a fair amount for a long last option. That said the 600 dyson is a little out of my price range. I appreciate the help!

Try a Sanitaire commercial upright they are fairly cheap at about $200 they deep clean with the best of them. They can take a good beating and keep on going. If you ever need them replacement parts are cheap. the F+G bags are 11 quarts belt changes require no tools, metal brushroll core with replaceable brushstrips. They are one of the best selling machines in the commercial market for these reasons, hope i helped.

Why is my hoover upright vacuum cleaner not picking up properly from the bottom?
Q. I have an upright hoover vacuum cleaner that was given to me a few years ago, it worked ok until the other day, The side hose attachment is fine with the little brush attachment and picks up ok that way but from the main base where the revolving cylinder brush revolves it hardly picks up if at all..What ive done in the past every time bag needs emptying is pull out all the fluff etc and used the same bag again and again with no problem but this time something has gone wrong....... I've looked and the brush revolves as it should therefore the belt is fine. In the past the belt has slipped off few times so i've put it back on and all was ok...This time i'm bit baffled about it. I've no manual for it as it was given to me 2nd hand, so if anyone has any ideas i'd appreciate it very much, many thanks !!!
Thanks for help you people. putting a new bag on it has improved it a lot. Still waiting for 2 new belts. They sent me the wrong ones therefore returning them !!!

Put a new belt and bag on it. Vacuum cleaner bags are a filter for the vacuum & get clogged if re-used. Belts stretch over time and when you put a load on it, there may not be enough traction to turn the agitator. Also check to see if there is a clog in the hose that goes from underneath to the main plenum. Take care of your vacuum, they don't make them of that quality any more.
