I'm looking to spend under $130 on a new vacuum. I'd kinda like a canister- I've always had an upright- because our new home is all tile and hardwood downstairs and I have a good deal of furniture to get under and I like to vacuum the couch and chairs (3 dogs). There's carpet upstairs, but I'd be willing to use my old vac for that. Also, I have a 3 month old and it would be much easier if I could hold him and do some vacuuming at the same time.
What I'm wondering, though, is a $130 upright vacuum much better than a $130 canister? I know canisters are more expensive, so would it be a like a cheap canister vs. a decent upright?

looking to buy a vacuum, and it appears dyson is the way to go. i do have a pet. 2/3 of my house is hardwood. and the rest carpet. i don't know which model is the best one to get!
