its burning through lamps like it was made to do that ( in that case the tv is f###### awsome) buts its the real world and i remember spending good money and i want more than a half year of non defective use ( owned it for 5 yrs) the new lamps work for a couple months and then they burn out like the rest. Its not the ballast or the color wheel, if it was the ballast it would blow them out right away and the color wheel wouldn't burned the light out at all. Please if anyone has had this experience or knows the solution i would greatly appreciate it! im just tired of throwing money away.

You may have a large accumulation of dust inside the tv and it could cause overheating. If you are comfortable taking the tv apart you could try vacuuming out the insides. And check that all the fans are still running. On the old DLPs the problem could be a short in the system or most anything. But the cleaning and fan testing is not too difficult and might work.

About 6 months ago our lamp went out, so we got a replacement and the problem was solved. Now a couple weeks ago our tv went out again...this time before it completely went out there was a couple times that it would making a cracking or sparking sound when it would start up, we didnt know what that meant, thought it was just a fluke, the tv doesnt work anymore and when you try to start it up it looks like it trying to light the bulb but it cant, while its making this craking sound and when you look at it its almost like sparking from the ballast board.....we just bought a replacement ballast board thinking the other one was burned out or whatever but that didnt solve the problem either...its still doing the same thing....so does anybody know how to fix this problem ? do we have to buy another bulb?, why is it cracking and lighting up ? Help Please!!!!

Not knowing the model number.... I'm going to speculate it's a slim fit line. If you take the back off, remove the lamp, and look behind the fan I bet the plastic "filter" is plugged. It was a poor design. Take canned air or a vacuum attachment and clean off the plastic rungs. If you don't and this is the problem you'll keep "eating" lamps.
