although more segregrated, which should have never been, had a more trustworthy goverment, less importing of goods from other countries, most suburbs did not exist it was you lived in the country or a city, more passenger rail service, a real land of opportunity, 4 major broadcast radio networks ABC, CBS, NBC, MBS, gas had much higher octane level and 21 cent a gallon only leaded gas, cars got about 10 to 15 miles per gallon, No mass importing of foreign made automobiles, Pluto was a real planet and a fictional dog in disney movies, most homes used coal for heat air conditioning was only for well to do people, credit cards were unheard of, two major poliical parties Dem and Republican, low unemployment, social security was sound, some use of plastics, vacuum tubes, carbon paper, mimiograph, slide rules, real politcal conventions where the candidate was actually chosen for each party to run for president, no fast food, alot of homes did not have indoor plumbing, milk was delivered to your door, no disposable diapers, more newpapers, MA Bell (American Telephone and Telegraph), real heroes, big band music, musical movies, jazz, country western music, lots of union workers , was involved in an epic struggle of world dominence with the Soviet Union called the cold war, no hula hoops
2010 U.S.A. is the worlds largest debtor nation, loosing in economic strength, and industrial output, GDP , less segregated, education, less trustworthy goverment, less of a land of opportuntity, more rules, more unnecessary laws,
more restrictive, less freedom, more bland
Since 1950 interstate travel, air travel, automobile travel has increased immensely, passenger rail service has declined drastically, more suburbs and endless sea of asphalt pavement, manufacturing has declined, imports are soaring, taxes are high, education is mediocre in the major cities less newspapers and less real news, less union workers
Addition of new things since 1950 space race, TV first Black & white then color, microwave, cassette, CD's, computer, instant communication, internet, Disneyland, McDonalds, Holiday Inn, OSHA, DOE, ADA, civil rights, Clean Air act, EPA, more federal holidays, IRS, NASA, DEA, Alaska and Hawaii joined the U.S., ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS and a multitude of other television and cable broadcast networks, better air and water, air conditioning use widespread, lots of credit cards, white out, copiers, printers, transistor, microchip, hand held radio's, cell phones, lots of phone companies, hand held electronic calculators, disposable diapers, fake christmas trees, fake heroes, rock and roll, crap un-music like rap, frequent drug usage, abortion, NAFTA, SALT, START, Star Wars, supersonic flight, nuclear power, hula hoops ecetera ...
